We left Oklahoma for Texas.
On the way we saw 2 ghost towns Texola OK and Glenrio TX. Ghost towns due to the introduction of the
new I40 interstate and less use of Route 66. Glen Rio had a very OLD historical jail. We stopped at the route 66 museum. Dad farm
machinery pix are for you. Karen, the
quilt pix is for you. Mom, the Cross pix
is for you. That was cool. Took lots of pictures. We hit Texas and absolutely LOVED the
views. Saw the world’s largest cross and
the stations of the cross were there. It
was a great testimony to Christ without anyone preaching a word! Loved it. We stopped at Cadillac Ranch. There we these Cadillac cars stuck in the
ground starting in 1974 and apparently anyone can take a can of spray paint along and paint on
them. Ray loved it. One of those great unusual Rt 66 side trips. :) All along the way as
we travel the interstate in some places and Rt 66 in others, you can see dead
ends and remnants of Rt 66. Well
maintained and gravel or dirt areas. Old signs from old times gone by but it was
a reminder of the old days along the way.
This is the kind of nostalgic things we love to see along with the
beautiful views. We hit New Mexico and
the vistas were beautiful. Tired and
pooped out we stopped for the night.
Tomorrow is more New Mexico and if we are lucky we will make it to
Arizona. We were worried it was going to
be hot but today was beautiful and high was 76.
Nice wind, sun and views. Thank
the Lord. Couldn’t have asked for
better! Not sure what Arizona holds for
us though but we shall see!! More New
Mexico to come!
